Along with the rest of the world, we at AmaWaterways are experiencing an extraordinary and unprecedented situation related to COVID-19. In light of the latest developments, we are temporarily suspending our river cruise operations until May 31, 2020 at this time.

On March 19, 2020, the county of Los Angeles issued the “Safer at Home” emergency order — mandating all residents of Los Angeles county, including our AmaWaterways team members, to stay inside their homes, and immediately limit all activities outside beyond what is absolutely necessary to take care of essential needs. We greatly appreciate your patience and understanding as we transition our team to work from home.

These critical situations will affect all of us – you, our guests, our valued travel partners, our offices in the US, the UK and in Europe, the small and large communities we visit, and the many friends and partners who live by and with us.

The health and wellbeing of our guests, crew and team are of the utmost importance to us. We want to assure you, our guests, that we have protected your long-awaited travel experience by issuing a Future Cruise Credit (FCC) equal to 115% of the value of the funds that AmaWaterways has received for all services purchased through AmaWaterways, redeemable on any AmaWaterways river cruise sailing through December 31, 2022.

While we have been forced to temporarily suspend our operations, the rivers keep flowing and our ships, Cruise Managers and crew are patiently waiting to welcome you on board. To you and your loved ones, the entire AmaWaterways family wishes you well during these unprecedented times.

Terms & Conditions:

*Future Cruise Credit (FCC) is equal to 115% of the value of the funds that AmaWaterways has received for all purchased services through AmaWaterways and may be applied towards any river cruise for travel by December 31, 2022. For international reservations, ask your travel advisor for the cruise protection that is specific to your booking. This is only applicable to cruises affected by suspended operations. FCC can be used to cover all charges related to AmaWaterways services and can be applied to cruise deposits. FCC has no cash value. FCC is transferrable with written confirmation provided by original FCC owner. Upon the expiration of the FCC on December 31, 2022, guests unable to use their FCC may ask for a refund equal to the original amount paid to AmaWaterways, unless FCC has already been applied to a new booking. Standard AmaWaterways Cancellation Policy and other restrictions will apply to the FCC. These temporary conditions are subject to change or withdrawal at any time. CST#2065452-20.


Travel with Peace of Mind

APPLICABLE FOR FUTURE SAILINGS (COMMENCING JUNE 1,2020)

In light of the recent global events and uncertainties around travel, we wish to offer our guests additional flexibility and peace of mind so they may continue to safeguard the wonderful plans they have made for their much-anticipated river cruise with AmaWaterways. As a result, we will offer for a limited time, special provisions which allow guests with new or existing reservations to purchase AmaWaterways Travel Waiver Plus*. AmaWaterways Travel Waiver Plus provides cancellation for any reason, up to 24 hours prior to the start of their AmaWaterways booked services (cruise, pre-cruise land extensions, air etc.)

Should guests decide to cancel their cruise for any reason, they will have the following options based on date of cancellation:

  • Cancellation received up to 7 days prior to start of AmaWaterways services:
    Future Cruise Credit** covering cancellation penalties, and the balance will be refunded based on our standard cancellation policy for services purchased through AmaWaterways.
  • Cancellation received between 6 days to 24 hours prior to start of AmaWaterways services:
    Future Cruise Credit** issued for 100% of AmaWaterways services to be used towards any sailings within 24 months of cancellation date

For all new or existing reservations for Europe and Southeast Asia (deposited or paid in full), Travel Waiver Plus may be purchased up to 48 hours prior to the start of AmaWaterways purchased services. For Africa Safaris & Wildlife Cruises, Travel Waiver Plus must be purchased within 90 days prior to sailing and once full payment has been received.

Travel Waiver Plus price:

  • $80 per person – for those who purchase AmaWaterways Cruise Protection Plan*
  • $175 per person – if purchased without AmaWaterways Cruise Protection Plan* or if you have purchased travel protection independently

For all new or existing reservations for Europe and Southeast Asia (deposited or paid in full), Travel Waiver Plus may be purchased up to 48 hours prior to the start of AmaWaterways purchased services. Travel Waiver Plus allows guests to cancel for any reason up to 24 hours prior to the start of their AmaWaterways trip and covers cancellation penalties in the form of a Future Cruise Credit for services purchased through AmaWaterways. For Africa Safaris & Wildlife Cruises, Travel Waiver Plus must be purchased within 90 days prior to sailing and once full payment has been received. Travel Waiver Plus is not available for Egypt Cruises, and does not include any additional benefits. **Future cruise credit, issued via the Travel Waiver Plus program, will cover cancellation penalties and the balance will be refunded based on our standard cancellation policy for services purchased through AmaWaterways. For international reservations, ask your travel advisor for the cruise protection that is specific to your booking. Future cruise credit is valid for any sailings within 24 months from the day your cancellation was received (cancellation must be received up to 24 hours prior to trip); can be applied to cruise, land, air, and any other services on the reservation (excluding initial deposits, Travel Protection and Travel Waiver Plus). Future Cruise Credit applied to Africa reservations have additional restrictions; ask for details. AmaWaterways Cruise Protection Plan can only be purchased prior to final payment. New Final Payment Policy

APPLICABLE FOR NEW AND EXISTING 2020 RESERVATIONS

We want to ensure you that we are doing everything we can to help our guests navigate through these unprecedented times, including allowing extra time for them to make the best decisions about their future travel plans.

Based on feedback received, full payment for all river cruises in Europe, Africa and Southeast Asia scheduled to depart by December 31, 2020 will not be due until 60 days before departure.


Terms & Conditions:

Final payment extension to 60 days before departure is only valid on FIT and Group reservations; applicable for all cruises in Europe, Africa and Southeast Asia scheduled to depart through December 31, 2020. Reservations previously paid in full are excluded. Cancellations received between 120 and 60 days before departure are subject to $400 per person (Europe/Asia)/$2,400 per person (Africa) cancellation fees; all other cancellation penalties per our Terms & Conditions would apply. An emergency order mandating that all Los Angeles County residents must stay inside their homes has been issued. We are transitioning our headquarters team to work from home. AmaWaterways has currently suspended all river cruises in Europe, Asia and Africa through May 31, 2020. We will continue to monitor the international travel bulletins regarding the coronavirus and will take preventive measures as recommended by the health and local authorities. We will keep you (and/or your travel advisor) informed should there be any additional travel alerts or major changes that may impact your river cruise itinerary.

While we have suspended all river cruises in Europe, Asia and Africa through May 31, 2020, our standard cancellation penalties remain in effect for all other normally operating programs. However, for a limited time, we are extending special provisions which allow guests with reservations after the aforementioned dates to purchase AmaWaterways' Travel Waiver Plus which provides cancellation for any reason with a Future Cruise Credit covering cancellation penalties for services purchased through AmaWaterways. Guests who decide to cancel and have purchased travel protection should contact their insurance provider to discuss available options.

For the safety and security of all guests on board and to ensure you have a seamless travel experience, we are now requiring details for all independent pre/post-cruise travel arrangements. At your earliest convenience, please log into our Your Cruise Check-in portal to update all required fields prior to departing for your trip.

We are continuously monitoring the international travel bulletins regarding the COVID-19 and will always take preventive measures as recommended by the health authorities, as well as intensifying our normal very high standards of hygiene on board. We work closely with our partners in the destinations we sail through to ensure our excursions are operated in accordance with the most up-to-date recommended guidelines.

The Cambodian and Vietnamese governments have imposed extreme health and safety measures that are now restricting all river cruise operations on the Mekong River. Unfortunately, this unprecedented situation is out of our control and we have been forced to suspend Mekong River cruises departing through May 31, 2020. We will keep you (and/or your travel advisor) informed should be any additional travel alerts or major changes that may impact our Mekong River cruise itineraries after that date.

Should there be a cancellation implemented by the carrier, any guests who have purchased air through AmaWaterways will be protected on alternative flights, whenever possible. Guests who have purchased their air independently should immediately contact their travel advisor or the airline regarding alternative arrangements. AmaWaterways is also available to assist in purchasing new air arrangements, based on availability.
