We are here to support you as you plan for your future river cruise. Below are answers to our guests’ most frequently asked questions regarding travel at this time. The safety of our guests and crew are our top priority. Should any guest or crew member fall ill or test positive for Covid-19 during the cruise, AmaWaterways has very specific protocols in place to provide for isolation, testing, contact tracing and medical assistance should it be necessary. These protocols have been approved by the governing authorities in the regions we sail through and are strictly adhered to in order to minimize the impact on other guests and crew and reduce the risk of the cruise being suspended. Please be assured that AmaWaterways will be there to assist with any needed arrangements and all guests will be well-looked after.

All guests should ensure they have adequate travel insurance that includes coverage of Covid-19 related expenses. AmaWaterways is pleased to offer its Cruise Protection Plan available to US residents. Yes, AmaWaterways is working with local laboratory services to provide PCR and Antigen testing towards the end of each cruise. The fee for the tests varies depending on the local service provider but should be between US$50-$90 for PCR (considered valid for 72 hours) and between US$15-$25 for Antigen (considered valid for 24-48 hours depending on the airline). You will be asked on board your ship to reconfirm whether you would like to take advantage of this service that AmaWaterways will facilitate. Options will also be available for guests doing post-cruise land packages prior to flying home.

FCC 115% is transferrable with written confirmation provided by original FCC owner, and requires the full name of recipient.

The 115% FCC is for all services purchased through AmaWaterways, including our Cruise Protection Plus. Any Travel Waiver Plus purchased will be refunded to the original form of payment.

While we have suspended all river cruise sailings in Europe, Asia and Africa embarking through June 30, 2021 (except Portugal, which is suspended through June 15), our standard cancellation penalties remain in effect for all other normally operating programs. However, for a limited time, we are extending special provisions which allow guests with reservations after the aforementioned dates to purchase AmaWaterways' Travel Waiver Plus which provides cancellation for any reason with a Future Cruise Credit covering cancellation penalties for services purchased through AmaWaterways. Guests who decide to cancel and have purchased travel protection should contact their insurance provider to discuss available options.

Effective immediately until further notice, AmaWaterways will only be welcoming fully vaccinated guests on board its ships. Guests affected by this decision should contact their travel advisor for options to reschedule their river cruise. We will continue to monitor the international travel bulletins regarding the coronavirus and will take preventive measures as recommended by the health and local authorities. We will keep you (and/or your travel advisor) informed should there be any additional travel alerts or major changes that may impact your river cruise itinerary.

For the safety and security of all guests on board and to ensure you have a seamless travel experience, we are now requiring details for all independent pre/post-cruise travel arrangements. At your earliest convenience, please log into our Your Cruise Check-in portal to update all required fields prior to departing for your trip.

Should there be a cancellation implemented by the carrier, any guests who have purchased air through AmaWaterways will be protected on alternative flights, whenever possible. Guests who have purchased their air independently should immediately contact their travel advisor or the airline regarding alternative arrangements. AmaWaterways is also available to assist in purchasing new air arrangements, based on availability.

Our enhanced Travel Waiver Plus allows guests to travel with peace of mind. Guests who purchase Travel Waiver Plus may cancel their reservation up to 24 hours prior to the start of their services with AmaWaterways for any reason and receive a Future Cruise Credit for any cancellation penalties incurred, and a refund for the refundable portion of their reservation.

Our Cruise Protection Plan is offered through Travel Guard and just like any travel protection, it provides guests with a monetary refund in the event they have to cancel their river cruise prior to departure for a covered reason. It is also very valuable once guests are traveling and need assistance in the event of an emergency. The Cruise Protection Plan is a custom-plan and includes Covid-19 coverage; contact Travel Guard for specific details. Our Travel Waiver Plus is offered to you through AmaWaterways and covers for any pre-cruise cancellation for any reason. Guests would receive a Future Cruise Credit for the value of the penalties valid for two years from the date of cancellation. It is important to know that the Cruise Protection Plan is only available for US residents, but the Travel Waiver Plus is available currently to all our guests. Yes. Effective immediately, AmaWaterways will only be welcoming guests fully vaccinated against Covid-19 on board its ships. This vaccination requirement also applies to accompanied minors. Guests affected by this decision should contact their travel advisor for options to reschedule their river cruise.

Currently, our river ship capacity are operating at approximately 70% capacity, but this is subject to change and could be raised at any time.

Guests will have to upload their vaccination card and fill out a health questionnaire before departure, verifying that they have not had any Covid-19 symptoms nor been in contact with any Covid-19 case or suspected case. The questionnaire will be re-validated prior to boarding and guests’ temperatures will be taken at that time and again every morning during their river cruise.

Excursions will be operated in small groups as usual with 15-20 guests. Guides will use our Quietvox audio system which allows guests to hear the guides while respecting social distancing. Some indoor venues that we visit may require guests to wear face coverings during the tour. It is recommended that you bring a medical grade or N95/K95 masks with you as you explore ashore. In addition, some countries and/or regions may require N95/K95 masks.

All meals, including breakfast, are “a la carte” with full table service and still offer a wonderful choice. The Chef’s Table specialty restaurant, which is also included in the cruise fare, is open with reduced seating. For contact tracing purposes, assigned seating in the restaurants is currently required. This is subject to change or modification at any time.

To ensure the safety of guests and crew, all guests will be required to follow the most up-to-date health and safety protocols in effect at time of sailing. Any guest or crew member who refuses to comply will be denied boarding or escorted from the ship.

Each stateroom will be cleaned in such a way as to avoid cross-contamination. Any guests with temperatures above 98.6° F will be required to isolate immediately within their stateroom along with any guests sharing that stateroom until further testing can be conducted in cooperation with the local authorities. There is also an isolation zone of staterooms on the lower deck designated for any crew members whose temperatures are above normal.

This offer is only applicable to cruises affected by suspended operations and applies to guests currently reserved on the sailing at the time of suspension. Future Cruise Credit is equal to 115% of the value of the funds that AmaWaterways has received for all purchased services through AmaWaterways and may be applied to any sailings embarking through December 31, 2023.
