Christening Ceremony Slated for June 15 in Vilshofen, Germany

Calabasas, CA - (Sep. 30, 2015) - AmaWaterways ( today announced that it has selected Nexion President Jackie Friedman (pictured left) to serve as Godmother of the new AmaViola. Friedman will join the AmaWaterways family for a special blessing ceremony, which will take place in Vilshofen, Germany at the conclusion of the ship’s June 9, 2016 “Melodies of the Danube” sailing.

Friedman has served as a leader within the travel industry for more than 20 years. In 2004, she joined Nexion as Vice President of Operations. Only three years later, she was promoted to President and General Manager, charged with focusing on membership growth, enhancing supplier relations, managing business development strategies and more. Under Friedman’s leadership, Nexion’s membership base has quadrupled, grossing more than $390 million in annual sales in 2014. In addition to her position with Nexion, Friedman serves on the board of directors for the American Society of Travel Agents (ASTA) and the Professional Association of Travel Hosts (PATH), along with advisory and President’s boards for CLIA, Celebrity Cruises, Norwegian Cruise Line, Royal Caribbean and more.

The 158-passenger AmaViola will offer 7- and 14-night cruises along the Danube, Main, Rhine, Dutch and Belgian Waterways, boasting innovative features perfect for the group and family travel sectors.
