In the autumn months, fairs and festivals tied to seasons appear all along the Rhine River. Here are a few that you won’t want to miss during your independent exploration before or after your AmaWaterways river cruise.

Pure Market

(April – October, December)

On the second Sunday of the month at Amstelpark in Amsterdam, the Pure Market comes to life with delicious cuisine, drinks and fun! Local vendors come together to sell locally grown fruit, delicacies from all around the world and souvenirs from local artisans. The park provides entertainment for the whole family’s enjoyment. Relax and enjoy the festivities surrounded by the park’s natural beauty.

Waterlooplein Market

(Open Monday – Saturday, 9:30 AM – 6:00 PM)

The oldest and most famous flea market in all of Amsterdam, the Waterlooplein Market was founded over 130 years ago. Peruse around 300 stalls filled with exciting treasures ranging from vintage cameras to antique jewelry. Delicious food is also sold at venues on the edges of the market. Open from Monday to Saturday, this cozy market is an adventure that is not to be missed.

Basel Wine Fair

(typically held the last week of October)

Basel will be hosting the Basel Wine Fair, bringing around 3,500 wines from 23 nations to this charming city in Northern Switzerland. With a variety of wines from Armenia, Italy, Spain, France, Switzerland and more, enjoy flavors from all over Europe. Wine merchants and makers will be there to acquaint you with the perfect wine for your palate.

Enjoy Jazz in Heidelberg

(typically held early October through mid November)

Enjoy Jazz, the International Festival for Jazz and More, will be coming to Heidelberg, Germany. For over seven weeks, musical events such as concerts, master classes and matinees are offered to cater to the music lover in all of us. The biggest and most significant jazz festival in Germany, Enjoy Jazz showcases talent ranging from well-established artists to rising stars with a mixing of many styles of music.
