Our holiday journeys operate from mid-November through the New Year. Peak December dates and suites can sell out quickly, so booking early helps secure preferred dates and staterooms.

Christmas Time blends festive onboard activities with local traditions ashore on itineraries throughout Europe. Christmas Markets itineraries focus on visiting iconic markets along the Danube, Rhine and Main. New Year’s Celebration departures cruise over New Year’s Eve and feature an onboard gala on that evening. Departures labeled as Christmas Time + New Year’s Celebration cruise over both Christmas Day and New Year's Eve.

Most markets open in late November and many conclude by December 23–26, though some cities keep large markets open through late December or into early January. Always check local dates for your specific ports.

Yes. You’ll have guided options and time to browse independently. For lighter crowds, many travelers favor the early season in mid-November as the markets begin to open. Many of our Christmas Time departures during this time allow you to visit the markets during this time of year.

Pack layers, waterproof footwear and warm accessories. From mid-November through December, typical daytime highs on the Danube and Rhine hover around 0–7°C / 32–45°F, with damp or snowy conditions possible.

Card acceptance is improving, but many traditional stalls remain cash preferred. Bring small notes/coins for mug deposits and incidentals; use cards where available.
