Built in the Netherlands and christened on May 10, 2017 in Lahnstein, Germany, the award-winning AmaKristina has proven to be a worthy member of AmaWaterways’ exceptional fleet. With Co-Founder and Executive Vice President Kristin Karst serving as her Godmother, AmaKristina has provided a warm, upscale “home away from home” for thousands of guests on Europe’s Rhine River and Dutch and Belgian Waterways.
As demand increases due to the popularity of our French itineraries and the need for twin balconies in France, we decided to send one of our favorite ships, AmaKristina, on a new adventure. In 2021, for the very first time, one of our most innovative ships will find a new joie de vivre as she heads for France’s Rhône River to sail our Colors of Provence itinerary between Lyon and Arles from April through December. Whether you’ve sailed previously aboard AmaKristina or plan to soon, we hope you’ll join us in wishing her the best as she continues her story with AmaWaterways.
AmaKristina by the Numbers
Since launching, AmaKristina has logged 48,243 miles on the Rhine River. She has also sailed approximately 5 Tulip Time cruises every year, has docked 630 times and has visited 14 unique ports.

Recognition and Honors
Since its launch, AmaKristina has accrued a number of travel industry honors and was voted “Best River Ship” by the readers of Porthole Cruise Magazine in 2017. It was also the first river cruise ship worldwide to receive Green Award certification in February 2020 for ensuring a high standard of safety, quality and environmental performance – forging the path for the rest of AmaWaterways’ European fleet, which soon followed.
Quotables
"The AmaKristina truly was a special christening, because it was our 15th anniversary and after so many years, we finally had one named for our Co-Founder Kristin, and Kristin was to be the Godmother. The backdrop in Lahnstein with the Rhine River and Stolzenfels Castle behind was magical, and the fireworks brought tears to our eyes," said Wade Korzan, Director of European Operations. "Every time I go aboard the AmaKristina and see Kristin’s photo in the lobby, I remember that special day like it was yesterday, and it is very moving."
