Travel Entry Requirements

Current Requirements for Embarking River Cruises with AmaWaterways Updated: August 2, 2021

Developments in specific regions and countries are fluid and evolving quickly. This page is being updated continuously; check back often for updates. More information will be available within your online Cruise Check-In.

To determine what documents you will need for your river cruise, please review the Vaccination and Testing Information for Your Journey as well as the Country-Specific Entry Requirements below based on the country you will be originally entering.

Vaccination and Testing Information for Your Journey

IMPORTANT UPDATE REGARDING VACCINATIONS: Covid-related protocols and country entry regulations continue to evolve. Recent changes in certain European countries now mandate up to a 10-day quarantine period for unvaccinated travelers upon entry. Many countries have also implemented procedures that strongly encourage travelers to be vaccinated and, in some cases, restrict access to certain venues unless they are vaccinated or can provide a negative test result valid for 24 hrs. As a result, effective immediately, AmaWaterways will only be welcoming fully vaccinated guests* on board its ships. Guests affected by this decision should contact their travel advisor for options to reschedule their river cruise.

*Guests must fully be vaccinated at least 14 days (in the case of Pfizer, Moderna and AstraZeneca or 28 days for Johnson & Johnson) prior to their sailing date. We also recommend all guests, take a PCR test within 72 hours prior to departure and bring documentation of a negative result with them on their sailing, as a precautionary measure.

For Your River Cruise Embarkation

All Guests:  Once your reservation has been confirmed, log into your Online Cruise Check-In with your reservation number, last name and date of birth. Enter your personal details, including emergency contact and most importantly your current email address in order to receive essential notifications about your trip. Independent flight information should be entered once confirmed, or within 45-30 days prior to departure. You will also be required to fill out AmaWaterways’ Health and Contact Tracing Questionnaire 7 days before your journey begins and this information will be revalidated upon embarkation. A link to this form will be in your pre-cruise check-in documents. Please bring your vaccination card with you to embarkation for the river cruise portion of your journey. IMPORTANT: Boarding will be denied without digitally completing this form prior to departure from home. Completing your Online Cruise Check-In in its entirety is also required.

For Your Flights:

Airlines have specific documents (ex: Digital Passenger Locator) that must be completed before your flights. Please consult your airline’s website.

At this time, ALL U.S. and Canadian guests require a negative COVID test taken within 72 hours for their return flight. AmaWaterways will be facilitating these tests on board our ships (regardless of whether or not guests have purchased their air through AmaWaterways) or in post-cruise hotels (for guests who have purchased AmaWaterways’ post-cruise land packages). Guests will incur a nominal fee depending on the type of test required: RT-PCR or antigen.

If your country of arrival is not listed above, we have not yet received official details from the local government. Please rest assured that as soon as we have information, we will update this page and communicate any important changes to our guests and travel advisors that may affect regulations as soon as possible based on sailing date.
