Day 4COLOGNE – KOBLENZ
This morning, arrive in Cologne for a guided walking tour through the old part of the city and a visit to its 13th-century Gothic cathedral. Another option is a guided bike tour through Cologne, where you will see medieval houses, churches, and beautiful bridges (capacity controlled). The ship will depart for Koblenz around lunchtime, arriving this evening. Feel free to go ashore and enjoy an evening walk with your Cruise Manager. The ship moors in Koblenz overnight. (B,L,D)
Day 5RÜDESHEIM
Cruise through the magnificent Rhine Gorge early this morning, passing by numerous castles and the legendary Lorelei Rock. After lunch, arrive in Rüdesheim and take a mini train to Siegfried’s Mechanical Musical Instrument Museum. Explore the Drosselgasse, a narrow alley lined with wine taverns, and other sights during your free time. Late this afternoon, the ship departs for Miltenberg. (B,L,D)
Day 6MILTENBERG - WERTHEIM
Arrive in Miltenberg late morning for a walking tour of this delightful old town, with its narrow cobblestone streets and steeply gabled houses. During lunch, the ship will cruise to Freudenberg. A motor-coach will take you to Wertheim, where you will see the historic city center and have free time to explore on your own. A guided bicycle tour of Wertheim is also available (capacity controlled). Rejoin the ship and cruise overnight en route to Wurzburg. (B,L,D)
Day 7WÜRZBURG - KITZINGEN
This morning, take a guided tour of Würzburg showing you all of the major sights or visit the Residenz Palace and gardens, a designated UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of Europe’s best examples of Baroque architecture. This afternoon, take an optional excursion along the Romantic Road to medieval Rothenburg or enjoy a scenic bike ride from Würzburg to Kitzingen (capacity controlled). The ship arrives this evening in Kitzingen, where you may enjoy an evening walk and wine tasting at Germany’s oldest wine cellar. Late tonight, the ship departs for Bamberg. (B,L,D)
Day 8BAMBERG
Arrive this afternoon in enchanting Bamberg, a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1993. Disembark for a guided walking tour of this medieval gem and see the breathtaking cathedral, the Old Town Hall that straddles the river, the city’s serpentine streets, and elegant 18th-century mansions. A guide bicycle tour is also available. Sample some of Bamberg’s famous smoked beer before continuing your cruise this evening to Nuremberg. (B,L,D)

This morning, you may opt for the “Medieval Nuremberg” tour and see the city’s 900-year- old ramparts and the Imperial Castle, or join the “WWII” tour that visits the Zeppelin field and the Justice Palace courtroom where the War Crimes Tribunal sat in 1946. After lunch, the ship passes through the Main-Danube Canal to Hilpoltstein, Europe’s Continental Divide and highest point (1,332 feet above sea level), then starts descending through stair-step locks. Day 10REGENSBURG
A guided morning tour will show you the city’s architectural highlights, including the Old Town Hall and the Porta Praetoria, gates to a Roman fort built in 179 AD. Alternatively, visit the Audi Factory in Ingolstadt, where a member of the Audi team will take you on a guided tour of the Audi Car Museum or Factory Floor (subject to availability). Day 11PASSAU, AUSTRIA – LINZ
After breakfast, arrive in picturesque Passau for a walking tour. This 2,000-year-old city is noted for its Gothic and Italian Baroque architecture. As you walk the cobblestone streets of the Old Town, you will see the old city fortifications and St. Stephan’s Cathedral, home to the largest pipe organ in the world. Alternatively, join an excursion to Salzburg, birthplace of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and the setting for “The Sound of Music.” Those staying on board can enjoy a scenic journey to Linz, Austria. Day 12MELK - DÜRNSTEIN
Cruise through the narrow Strudengau and reach the Wachau Valley early this morning. A guided tour takes you to Melk’s magnificent Benedictine Abbey, one of Europe’s largest Baroque monasteries. After lunch, enjoy a scenic cruise through the lovely Wachau Valley and arrive in Dürnstein mid-afternoon. There, you will see the blue facade of the Baroque Stiftskirche and the castle ruins where Richard the Lionhearted was once imprisoned, high above the town. After lunch, the ship will cruise to Melk for a guided tour of the town’s Benedictine Abbey, one of Europe's largest baroque monasteries and the inspiration for the novel The Name of the Rose. Day 7LINZ - PASSAU, GERMANY
This morning the ship arrives in Linz, where you will have a choice of two different excursions. The first choice is an optional excursion to Salzburg, where you will take a walking tour of the historic center, famous as the setting for “The Sound of Music” and as the birthplace of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. The tour also includes a visit to the Mirabell Gardens, Salzburg Cathedral, Mozart’s Square, and much more. The alternative is to remain on the ship as it cruises through scenic Upper Austria to Passau, a 2,000-year-old city noted for its Gothic and Italian Baroque architecture. Day 11KITZINGEN - WÜRZBURG
After arriving in Kitzingen, your walking tour includes the city’s famous 13th-century Leaning Tower, the Old Main Bridge, Kitzingen Church, and the Renaissance-style Town Hall. This morning the ship arrives in Linz, where you will have a choice of two different excursions. The tour also includes a visit to the Mirabell Gardens, Salzburg Cathedral, Mozart’s Square, and much more. After arriving in Kitzingen, your walking tour includes the city’s famous 13th-century Leaning Tower, the Old Main Bridge, Kitzingen Church, and the Renaissance-style Town Hall. Later, the Aulic Council and Wine Queen will welcome you to Germany’s oldest wine cellar for a tasting of several different wines and an overview of wine production in the region.
